Hi, At the moment a potential client who is not a member of the fourms, gets a rather abrupt 'You must be logged in' type message, which clicking on a link for MPP - which is fair enough. However this customer is using a site, and wishes to purchase a subscription - so to have to go through the entire sign-up routine to join a forum (which happens to be part of the site that does not interest him) and then to come back and sign up for his subscription is not what he wants to do - so he takes his money elsewhere. Now I realise that the majority of people are going to use MPP as an extension to a particular feature within threads - but what about the site that is using threads technology to power other sections. It would be good to rather than telling him he must be logged in - he gets a split screen - one part offers him the login box if he is already a member - the other part offers him the sign-up screen - if he then completes the sign-up he is taken straight to the subscription link, rather than back to the forums. It would probably have to be a seperate login form, rather than the threads one. For some sites, people are joining the site, rather than joining the fourms - the fact that they can post messages is just a part of that site membership. Just a thought to benefit sites that would use MPP as a subscription tool. |
