Might be the server move of a while ago catching up to you - but it also can be pretty normal. Threadsdev goes up and down by several thousand almost on a daily basis. Google uses different servers and different databases, so they aren't always up to date. If the load was high when you did your search, you might hit a server with an older database and saw those results instead.

Yeah, lots of ups and downs depending on what server you hit and when. I used to watch it like a hawk but have learned the best way for me to see what's happening is to simply watch my traffic in the who's online page (with my color coded and various other mods in there ) This is where we really see the mod working for us, over time it's loaded with not just spiders, but actual hits from google.
I'll add that there are definately ups and downs - as search engines change their listings and update thier procedures pretty regularly. It's a fast moving business.
But since you are making the pages in your forum, so that they physically can be spidered, that's half the battle.
The amount of your listing will go up and down - but thus far, Everyone has seen an increase from when they started. And yes, traffic definately goes up as well. It may go up and down from time to time, but I'm happy to report that there's always an increase over time.

At the moment I have around 250 yahoo bots alone crawling my site. They don't appear to do it in moderation like google, every minute it's jumping by 10 or so.
